Headteachers call for 'urgent rethink' on facial coverings in an attempt to keep panic high.
Hundreds of schools in England are preparing to allow or actively encourage pupils to wear face coverings in communal areas in defiance of UK government guidance on coronavirus. The virus, already proven not to effect children, and having diminished to such minuscule numbers as to not be a threat to anyone's health, is still thought to be so rampant in schools that children must not only adopt the hygiene and distance measures but should also wear face masks too. That is the conclusion of headteachers who, in a reversal of the start of the pandemic, don't believe the official guidance.
Headteachers have urged Boris Johnson to review the Public Health England advice that 'does not recommend' the use of face masks in schools. A Labour spokesman said there was a “growing body of evidence” to support the Scottish model but failed to give any specific data. London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, felt it perfectly acceptable to take advice from another country signalling that he could unilaterally advise hundreds of the capital’s secondary schools to adopt the wearing of face masks.
One of England’s biggest multi-academy chains, Oasis, which represents more than 28,000 pupils at 52 schools, said on Tuesday it would defy the official UK government advice and ask older students to wear masks in communal places. Steve Chalke, the founder of the Oasis Charitable Trust, said schools had a “moral responsibility” to make their environment as safe as possible. He said asking secondary schools pupils to cover their faces in corridors, communal spaces and on transport, as Scotland has done, was “the common-sense place” for the UK government to end up. “In the absence of clarity coming forward from government in time – we’re told that there might be more guidance in a few weeks’ time but schools are going back in a few days’ time – we believe we have a moral responsibility based on our values to make decisions to create safety,” he told BBC Radio 4’s World at One. He was not the only one who wants everyone to remain in a state of fear, even though the virus has gone with The Academies Enterprise Trust, which represents more than 33,000 pupils at 58 schools, telling the Guardian it was following the UK government advice but that it would allow staff and pupils to wear face masks if they wished whilst the educational charity Ark, which has 27,000 children enrolled at 37 schools, would allow teachers to wear masks if they felt strongly about it.
Laura Berman, an education lawyer and partner at the law firm Stone King, said she was being contacted by schools wanting to make the wearing of face coverings part of their policy in a classic Marxist ploy of resorting to mindless bureaucracy to oppress the masses.
Teachers have spent the entire pandemic using your children as pawns in a pathetic political game with the government. Whilst always claiming to want the best for the children they teach, they have not thought twice about destroying their education to score cheap political points off the government. They have been claiming that it is not safe for schools to reopen, despite all of the evidence to the contrary. When they cannot argue with the science they claim their actions are 'moral' and therefore should not be questioned. In truth, the Marxists teachers unions have seen an opportunity to cripple the government with your children's education just collateral damage.
