Amazon was forced to redesign its new app logo after Twitter users claimed that the image resembled Adolf Hitler.
The newly re-worked app logo, which has been confusing customers since January, featured a cardboard box design with a strip of blue tape on it. After its launch customers took to twitter to complained that the image reminded them of the toothbrush moustache worn by the Nazi dictator.
It is unknown if the designer of the app was secretly making a comment about Jeff Bezos, or if they indeed were sacked for the error, but once customers pointed out the likeness Amazon quickly and quietly changed the image to one that didn't resemble a genocidal maniac.
In a vague statement provided to TODAY, the company said, “Amazon is always exploring new ways to delight our customers. We designed the new icon to spark anticipation, excitement, and joy when customers start their shopping journey on their phone, just as they do when they see our boxes on their door step.”
